Chatlio Alternatives
If you want website live chat inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, Chatlio is not the only option. Social Intents and SignalZen also route visitor conversations into Slack and Teams, while larger help desks such as Intercom and Zendesk use Slack mainly for notifications and internal collaboration.
We make Chatlio, so this is not an independent review. We have linked each competitor’s own product and pricing pages, included reasons to choose them, and avoided claims we could not verify. Product details were checked on October 15, 2026.
Short answer
Choose Chatlio if your team wants to run the whole website conversation inside Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord, with deep widget controls, APIs and webhooks, and no AI or omnichannel suite to pay for.
Consider Social Intents if you want built-in AI agents, WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger, or the option to answer from Google Chat, Zoom or Webex as well as Slack and Teams.
Consider SignalZen if you want built-in AI support, unlimited chat volume on its published plans, or the option to work from Google Chat or SignalZen’s own console as well as Slack and Teams.
Consider a full help desk if website chat is only one part of a support operation that also needs ticket queues, phone, social messaging and a large reporting system.
Why teams choose Chatlio
A full integration, not a notification bot. The whole conversation happens where your team already talks, in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord, with no second inbox to watch.
- The whole chat, inside Slack. Text, images, files, code blocks, typing indicators and screenshots move between Slack and the website.
/chatliocommands set availability, request details, end conversations and export transcripts without leaving Slack. - A space for every visitor. In Slack each visitor gets a dedicated channel; in Teams and Discord, a thread. Support pulls in an engineer without a handoff, and the visitor sees one conversation.
- Context before you reply. See the visitor's location, page, local time, browser and OS, plus any account details you send with
identify(). - Screenshots, images and code. Ask for a screenshot from your channel with no plugin on the visitor's side. Drag in an image and it lands in the widget. Backticks render as code.
- Answer from your phone. Replies go out from the Slack, Teams or Discord app you already carry.
- Your design, on every plan. Full CSS customization and unlimited domains are included from the Mini plan at $30 a month.
- Reach visitors at the right moment. Triggers, pre-chat questions, routing to the right channel and saved replies on Team and above.
- Built for developers. A JavaScript API, a server API, webhooks, Zapier and Segment, with guides for React, Next.js, WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace and Webflow.
- Hours that follow your team. Set a schedule, follow Slack presence or switch availability yourself, and show a contact form when you're offline.

Chatlio
Chatlio connects a website widget to Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord. A visitor starts on your site and the first message reaches a channel you chose. In Slack, an operator answers in a dedicated channel for that visitor. In Teams and Discord each visitor gets a thread. Multiple teammates can join the same conversation.
Reasons to choose Chatlio
- Your operators already work in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord and do not need another inbox.
- You want a product focused on human website chat rather than an AI support suite.
- You need unlimited domains on every plan.
- You want CSS customization, a browser API, a server API, webhooks, Zapier and Segment support.
- You want to attach your own customer data to a visitor through
_chatlio.identify(). - You want a 30-day trial before paying.
Reasons to choose something else
Chatlio does not try to be an omnichannel contact center. It is a poor fit if your agents do not work in Slack, Teams or Discord, or if built-in phone, WhatsApp, SMS and social messaging are requirements. Chatlio supports custom bots, but it does not bundle a hosted general-purpose AI support agent like Social Intents or SignalZen currently advertise.

Social Intents
Social Intents routes website chats to Slack and can use either a dedicated channel or a thread. Its current product goes well beyond website live chat. The company advertises AI agents powered by ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, plus WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger and several collaboration platforms.
Reasons to choose Social Intents
- You want AI to answer routine questions before handing a conversation to Slack.
- Your company works in Google Chat, Zoom or Webex.
- You want WhatsApp or SMS conversations in the same product.
- You need built-in help desk ticketing and email support on higher plans.
Reasons Chatlio may fit better
Chatlio is simpler if you only need website live chat in Slack. All Chatlio plans allow unlimited domains, while Social Intents publishes domain limits by plan, starting at one domain on Lite and Starter. In Microsoft Teams, Social Intents’ help center says agents must mention its bot in every channel reply or answer from its separate chat console. Chatlio reads replies in the visitor’s thread without a mention. Social Intents does not list Discord. Chatlio also gives every plan a 30-day trial, compared with the 14-day trial advertised by Social Intents.

SignalZen
SignalZen sells AI customer support with human handoff through Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, email and its own applications. For Slack, it advertises two workflows: conversations in threads or separate channels.
Reasons to choose SignalZen
- You want built-in AI support and agent assistance.
- Unlimited chats are more important than Chatlio’s conversation-based plan limits.
- You need Google Chat or email integration.
- You want the choice of Slack or a separate live chat console.
Reasons Chatlio may fit better
Chatlio’s Mini plan has a lower published monthly price, $30 against $49. Chatlio also allows unlimited domains on every plan, while SignalZen publishes subdomain limits on its Basic and Pro plans. A team that wants human Slack chat without a bundled AI product may find Chatlio easier to evaluate.

Standalone help desks
Products such as Intercom and Zendesk cover more support channels and processes. Their Slack integrations may notify a channel, create or update tickets, and help coworkers discuss a customer issue. Agents generally handle the customer conversation in the help desk’s own interface.
That model is useful when the help desk must remain the central queue and system of record. It is different from Chatlio’s model, where operators carry out the live website conversation itself in Slack.
Choose a full help desk when you need complex ticket assignment, call-center functions, broad social channels, service-level management or reporting across a large support operation. Choose Slack-native live chat when quick collaboration and one less agent inbox matter more.
Questions to ask before choosing
Does the Slack integration carry the full conversation?
Some products post only a notification or a link in Slack. Ask whether an operator can read and reply to the visitor without opening another application.
How are simultaneous chats organized?
Dedicated channels make each visitor easy to separate and let several teammates join. Threads reduce channel count but can be easier to miss. Decide which behavior fits your workspace.
Are operators, domains and conversations limited?
A low advertised price can change once you add seats, websites or chat volume. Compare the limit your team will actually hit, not only the first monthly price.
Is AI required or optional?
Built-in AI can answer common questions, but it adds configuration, review and data-handling decisions. A human-first product is often enough for teams with moderate chat volume and specialized questions.
Can you move data to your other systems?
Check transcript export, webhooks, APIs and integrations before buying. This matters if chat leads belong in a CRM or support conversations must enter a reporting or ticket system.
Try the workflow, not just the widget
The biggest difference appears on the operator side. Install the trial on a test page, start several visitor conversations, answer from a phone, invite a second teammate, test offline behavior and export a transcript. That hour of testing will tell you more than a feature checklist.
